Capturing Albuquerque: Visit Albuquerque’s Travel Campaign - A Creative Case Study
Overview
In August 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to work on Visit Albuquerque’s latest travel campaign as the lead commercial photographer. Contracted through INSPIRADO, I was tasked with capturing high-quality stills to be used across print, web, and social media.
This was a massive production—eight days of shooting, over 15 locations, and a crew of more than 50. A very exciting project and wonderful opportunity to help showcase the city I call home.
Showcasing the Best of Albuquerque
Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a city like no other. Nestled in the high desert, it offers breathtaking views of the Sandia Mountains, stunning Southwestern landscapes, and some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever see.
Beyond the natural beauty, Albuquerque is rich in culture, history, and adventure. From its thriving arts scene to its deep-rooted Native American and Hispanic heritage, the city offers an incredible mix of tradition and modern experiences. The diverse culinary scene, outdoor activities, and vibrant festivals make it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking authenticity and adventure.
Overcoming Challenges on Set
As with any large-scale production, this shoot came with its challenges. Time was my biggest obstacle—with so many locations and moving parts, video took priority, leaving me with limited windows to capture my shots.
I had to adapt, I streamlined my approach, stripping my kit and my setups down. Often, I found myself shooting over the shoulders of the film crew, working quickly to seize every available moment. While I couldn’t capture every image I originally planned, I focused on creating high-impact visuals that would best represent Albuquerque in the campaign.
Final Thoughts
Despite the challenges, this project was an amazing experience. Having the opportunity to Showcase the city I call home through my lens was both an honor and a creative challenge that pushed me to adapt and innovate.
